THE OUTER BODY EXPERIENCE

He was firmly stuck, there was no need for the struggling anymore; soon enough the ‘white’ light was going to come for him and he will finally be free. It was cold; too cold. He could feel the chill in his bones come to a halt as the black dots appeared before his eyes and the sharpness of the waves softened out until there wasn’t any sound including his breathing. You see this is a young boy with no name and with no age, he was dying as you could probably figure out. Before, this young lad was absolutely terrified of dying but now he had no choice it was happening too quickly and it was so peaceful. He was stuck, in a castle and was slowly leaving our ‘known’ world.

It felt like drifting, there was no ‘white’ light and soft voice like they had claimed but still it was slow and calm. His eyes suddenly sprang open, like he had opened his eyes for the first time in years. He looked around as he hit the ground with a sharp and sudden thump, as he tried to get up he noticed his limp and lifeless body right in front of him. Panicking and in hysterics he came to the conclusion he was dead, and paced round his still warm body in limbo.

He was rather intelligent and he had passed ghosts and spirits off as imaginative beings, but now as he had managed to free himself from his painful and mentally stuck position he began to see that he was stubborn and rather naïve.

Walking down the path away from the baron shape called a castle he thought he saw a young beautiful woman pacing round a tree; he was intrigued, she was laughing as she started to skip elegantly but soon enough she had spotted him and stopped. Our young lad walked up to her and asked her softly “have you passed on to?” she gave him a startled look and replied with a sharp “yes”. The two exchanged quick glances until he asked how and when she died.

I was 22 and my father was once the king of this land and that small turret by the beach was once a huge castle in which I lived, I was the young typical princess who was to marry a prince who my father approved of, being the king and me his only child, he had brought home many princes whether they where rich, short, tall, fat or handsome I would turn them all down as I only wished for a normal working man. “Why you’re a member of royalty?” Sighing she told him about how she wished she would stop being treated like she was the only special person on this small and Baron Island. She despised being rich and getting new gifts all the time. The dresses, shoes, horses, gold and expensive cloths made her feel bad about herself as well as feeling sorry for that people giving them to her, she had done nothing to deserve it all. A prince turned up at her chamber door one day and asked for her hand in marriage, she told him no and ordered him out of her sight. This prince was determined to marry this beautiful young princess, so he stood his ground with this doing she grew angry and frustrated; ordering him away again she pushed and shoved him towards the door. His back was eventually pushed up against the door. She had no other resources she had tried hitting and she had tried to order him out he was just not going anywhere. The prince then took a funny turn and lunged at her; she dodged and he fell face first in to her gold framed mirror, she stood there staring, numb with shock not able to move or scream, it was then when her maid walked in that she snapped back to life. He was dead the stubborn prince was dead, in her room and in front of her.

This story was slowly circulated round the island, the gifts stopped and she grown worn and tired, staying up every night reacting what had happened that week ago. She heard shouting and the whinny of impatient horses. The prince’s father had come to find out about the ‘murder’ of his son, and his father had planned a viscous attack to kill the king and his princess. “I stayed in my room, I wasn’t going to run and hide as I was completely innocent.” The attack wasn’t going to stop, i could feel the pounding of the cannonballs and rams trying effortlessly for revenge... they got revenge, it wasn’t painful or as horrible as people make out. I was in such a state I wasn’t paying attention and well the ceiling fell and yes I was killed.

“But It wasn’t even your fault?” the lad protested, the princess wasn’t sorry for herself she was just thinking, “ I know but now and finally I’m happy, I don’t have to marry and I don’t have gifts given to me all the time. Now i can just be me. “The boy was deep in thought when she had asked him how long he had been stuck in limbo, “About ten minutes” he replied sounding rather cocky. What he didn’t know was what the sprit life was really like the castle was still around in certain parts of the day, but at night it disappears then reappears somewhere else on the island.

The princess started to look shifty, “what’s the matter?””Oh, nothing I was just thinking.” The boy thought about several things that she could be thinking like where to go, who was this boy, what did he want and so on. Too many thoughts make you confused the princess told him. You see these two wondering spirits who both suffered completely different deaths where united by something, they both had nobody. They decided to walk, as they were walking they were both drawn the castle by an unthinkably strong force. They entered the castle and the princess braced herself for the sight of her death place, this castle was grand huge and pretty. A massive staircase to the right and a very high ceiling painted with golden and deep sapphire roses hanging above them.

“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” The princess said what the young lad was thinking. She took his hand and led him round the castle from the dining room to the bedrooms. She had shown him everything bar her room; she just couldn’t go in there.

“It has been 275 years since I have entered this room, it’s too much to bear on my own, and I guess with you I could try entering?”

“I don’t see why not” the boy replied feeling rather flattered. “On 3, 1, 2 ...3” the heavy door creaked open and the two gasped.

The bed was made and the mirror remained intact.

“Everything’s...normal.” the princess gasped. She ran and jumped on her bed, scattering the cushions everywhere. She grabbed a dress from her wardrobe and took it to the corner, in which she stood behind her screen and changed. The young lad finally asked her

“What happened to your mother?” the lad asked.

“She was taken by the waves on a boat accident.” She replied.

“I’m sorry about that”

“Don’t worry about it I was about two when it happened.” The boy had grown rather fond of the young princess and had spent a whole day with her sharing stories and feelings. When they reached down stairs it was almost night.

“The castle is going to disappear soon,” the princess told him,

“Good because I need to ask you something.”

“What?” she replied looking anxious.

“I haven’t told you everything; I am the last prince to have travelled here to ask you something. I have died on this island just for you, you now know me and I know you. We have shared a lot so will you marry me?

With that the castle disappeared and so did the prince and the princess.
